Untitled
This from the little Russian Jewish / Jewish Russian girl next door.  We all wondered what had become of her after the Public School Intelligentsia days.  Then, one day, there her book was on a Facebook ad.  It is wildly appropriate that she reemerge on a Facebook ad with a book about Mad Men era ads.  (Only she would be so unintentionally clever)  To see her photo now is quite a shocking contrast from her Christian Siriano hair and glasses days.  The snark gave way to more serious and determined writing.  The lol cats have been replaced by Mad Men era relevant David Hockney (I think that’s Hockney above right?) paintings and advertising.  I can’t be sure if that is Natasha VC sitting on the bench in the “about the author” picture.  http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Men-Unbuttoned-Through-America/dp/0061991007/  She no longer looks or sounds like the perfect blend of Katie Morovsky (From “The Way We Were”) and Anne Frank.  She’s very nearly a reincarnation of Sylvia Plathe and Joan Jett.  (Wait… Jett’s not dead, just old.)  She looks like the most non-Jewish Russian / non-Russian Jew that I never met.  There is something there though, spying on history the way she used to spy on pop culture.  In case you were wondering, this is what happened to Natasha Vargas-Cooper.
For the record:  She is a bit of both Marilyn and Jackie, but neither really.

“Everything in California is new and the people are full of hope” — Don on my home.
The Wrap is running the excerpt from the book today : California Cool
“We never learn the full names or identities of the Fellini-esque aristocrats with whom Don escapes. Names like Rockefeller, Astor, Rothschild, Dykeman — or Whitman — mean nothing in the desert. The whole scene is drenched in a democracy of the sun. Nothing has come before and few think of tomorrow.”
Bask with me.
